Captain’s Cove Golf & Yacht Club, VA to Benefit from Broadband Expansion
KCI Technologies, Inc. (KCI) and Noovis, LLC (Noovis) have been contracted to create a Broadband Request for Proposal (RFP) to attract Internet Service Providers (ISPs) wanting to deliver improved service to the residents of Captain’s Cove.
Working together, KCI and Noovis will create a design specification for the community that will ensure it receives reliable and expandable fiber optic infrastructure and quality service from the winning service provider. With the goal of having service “go live” in the Summer/Fall of 2019, the community plans to have an ISP selected early in 2019. “We have been pursuing this for some time now and we are excited to see the plan coming together,” remarked Justin Wilder, General Manager, Captain’s Cove Golf & Yacht Club.
Currently, home to over 1,000 residents and another 2,900 available lots, Captain’s Cove Golf & Yacht Club is located on the western shore of the Chincoteague Bay, bordering Maryland. An ideal location for fishing or kayaking the bay or creeks, the Cove has access to the Atlantic Ocean for off-shore fishing or sightseeing. The Marina Club restaurant and lounge is open to the public year-round. Featuring indoor and outdoor pools, workout facilities, and activity rooms, the Marina Club is the jewel of the community. At the Town Center, the Captain’s Cove Golf Course provides one of the finest golfing experiences on the Shore and is a true test of the game.
“We are very proud to be in a position to help this community and have a very experienced Communications Infrastructure Practice as well as a great partnership with Noovis to meet all of their needs,” stated Debbie Pfeil, Senior Project Manager with KCI.
The KCI Technologies, Inc. Communications Infrastructure Practice is an industry leader in fiber placement, splicing, Outside Plant Services (OSP), small cell wireless, and structured cable construction and installation. The Practice has grown to more than 100 project managers, installers, and field technicians.
Noovis, LLC has been based out of Hanover, MD since 2014. The company designs, builds, and integrates intelligent networks that support IoT technology for clients developing critical infrastructures, enhanced communities, and Smart Cities.
“Reliable broadband service is just as important as any other utility these days,” stated Eric Welty, President of Noovis. “The residents of Captain’s Cove are long overdue for access to high-speed connectivity and we are glad we can be part of the solution for them.”
