Tom Napoli of Noovis among speakers at Broadband Communities Summit

Noovis Co-Founder and Vice President, Tom Napoli, and Jay Romero, senior director of IT operations for Erickson Living, co-presented to an appreciative audience at the annual Broadband Communities Summit held April 14-17 in Austin, Texas.  More than 3,000 service providers, carriers, equipment manufacturers, community developers and operators attended the event.

Napoli and Romero were invited to speak by Scott Degarmo, CEO of Broadband Communities, the event’s organizer.  The pair co-presented on innovative, collaborative work that Noovis lead on several Erickson Living retirement campuses.

“Noovis designed, engineered and deployed all-fiber broadband – Wi-Fi – networks for staff and residents at four Erickson Living locations,” explained Napoli.

This year’s Broadband Summit was subtitled “Let’s Gigafy America!” and was focused on expanding broadband internet connectivity throughout the nation, which was a core objective of the hosting organization.

“Jay outlined for the audience Erickson Living’s challenges and how Noovis worked to address them,” said Napoli.  “We talked about how nothing compares to the effectiveness of an all-fiber network when it comes to providing access to communities, multi-housing, academic campuses and commercial properties.  What Erickson Living has done is a shining example of how things should be.”

“Part of the reason for our success has been our focus on a digital engagement strategy for seniors – from high-speed broadband connectivity and wireless coverage to developing our own senior-friendly apps. Our session at the Summit focused on the rationale, cost savings, and benefits of our Passive Optical infrastructure.  It ties together everything from building automation and security systems to broadband services,” said Romero.

The Broadband Communities Summit bills itself as the leading conference on broadband technologies for system operators, network builders and deployers of all kinds. Many of the country’s major property owners and real estate developers attend the Summit each year, along with independent telcos and cable companies, municipal and state officials, community leaders and economic development professionals.
